Ikea Hack – Holmsel Chair

As you may know by now, I’ve been working on my good friend Paige’s new house ever since she moved in. We are almost  finished with her youngest little girls bedroom. It is absolutely adorable and I can’t wait to share the finished project with you.

She wanted a chair where Aven could sit and read in the corner of the room. It needed to fit our Pink Floral Flamingo Theme and after looking and looking I finally decided what I wanted for the space was not out there. So, what do you do when you can’t get something out of your head….? You head (see what I did there?) right to Ikea for a DIY Ikea Hack!

I picked up the Holmsel Chair and after a few coats of spray paint – I’m in love with the finished product.

….and um, don’t I have some awesome spray painting skills? MDub is always super excited when he comes home to find his grass a funky color!

Doesn’t it look so cute sitting in Avens room?

Now for the most exciting part…..

A couple of weekends ago Mdub was in a wedding in New Orleans and I was so excited to stroll the famous Magazine street. I’ve always heard New Orleans had great southern design and I couldn’t wait to see it in person. Several of us girls who were in town for the festivities decided to shop ALL afternoon Saturday until we couldn’t stand the heat any longer. Holy cow – New Orleans is HOT HOT during the summer. One of the shops we went into had the cutest chairs. I knew the second I opened the door where the chairs were from. The EXACT Holmsel Chair and someone else had the same idea. Even better – they were selling the chairs for 3 times what they cost.

I love taking a very inexpensive item and turning it into something custom – lets face it – everyone loves a good Ikea hack!

And remember, only 2 days left to VOTE for our nursery. Every VOTE counts and we want to keep the lead!
