SOOO – basically, I got nothin’ for you. Other than a kitchen that looks the exact same as it did 4 weeks ago, this One Room Challenge was nothing more than a false jump start. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still super excited we at least started, but now I’m waiting on my guys to finish up other jobs before they can finish mine. So let’s just dream we are all in my old kitchen about to eat breakfast at that bar.
This week we at least learned that the post to the “doorway” has to stay, or we need a header beam. UGH – not what I wanted to hear, but not the end of the world. I’m also debating on the vent-a-hood. I’ve asked around and haven’t gotten a clear answer from anyone. If this was our forever house, I would take the vent-a-hood out completely. How many times do you really burn something bad enough that you need it? Don’t answer that MDub! It divides the space, and I’ve never been a fan of the stainless/industrial ones coming down from the ceiling. If I can confirm I don’t need it for resell-code reasons, then that baby is outta here. If we have to have one for inspection reason for one day when we sell, then I guess a stainless monster is coming down from the ceiling.
This is what we are still living with….we will finish, we will finish….
Since today marks the end of the challenge, I won’t update our “non progress” each week. I’ll just share when something actually happens. Which may be the first part of next year the way it’s currently looking. We will finish, we will finish, we will finish…….
So here’s the plan……
1.Take down the wall in between kitchen and living.
2. New Countertops – Carrara Marble
3. Install Backsplash
4. Double Ovens
6. Install microwave over ovens
7. Replace sink, faucet and dishwasher – delivered!
8. Window treatments – ordered
9. Pendants – maybe. I’m not sure if it will be possible because of the vent-a-hood.
Move outlets and light switch
11. Enjoy Thanksgiving in a new kitchen- NOT happening
