Five on Friday – Friday Favorites

After taking a two week hiatus – I’m back at it for Five on Friday and Friday Favorites. We’ve been gone for the last seven days, so the fact that today is Friday is blowing my mind.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that today is the start of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (unless you have the credit card, and you could shop last week). While the rest of the world is shopping for fall booties and winter jackets, I’ve been surfing the  home department – which is usually not that great, but they do have a few things worth a good mention!

ONE:
My FAV rug of all time is big time on sale. Any other time – you better be buying this rug from the best dealer out there. But for today – Nordstrom has slashed some prices. If you need a big area rug for your play room or just something small in front of your kitchen sink – I’m a big fan of these. You can spray them off with the water hose in your drive way and they look brand new. Even after red Gatorade has been spilled…..not sure how I know that!!!Screen Shot 2016-07-21 at 9.38.40 PM

TWO:
If you need teacher, babysitter, or friend gifts – click HERE. Voluspa is one of my favorite candles, and the party pack is a good way to have the same smell in several different rooms. I tried ordering this last year for a few Christmas gifts, and they were sold out everywhere. I’m stocking up early this year!

THREE:
This blanket has always been in and out of my shopping cart for quite a while. I think it’s so cute and would be a great baby gift. Or, if I was pregnant right now,  which I am NOT, I would be buying this. Who doesn’t love a good monogrammed gift.

FOUR:
Maybe it’s because the AC is blaring, and I’m currently typing this while under a bad throw, but I have blankets on the brain. Who doesn’t love a soft, plush throw, with pom poms at that? Only approximately 100 more days until you turn that AC off, start a fire, and curl up with a cup of coffee and this blanket. Ok – back to reality of 102 temps.

FIVE:
Since it is 102 outside, why not enjoy it. I actually put this print on a clients design board  a couple of weeks ago for her playroom. When I saw it was on sale AND framed, I got so excited. Super cute way to add some “Summer” to any room.

Well, folks, that’s my non-fashion-self giving you some non-clothing items to purchase from the
Nordstrom Sale.
On Monday, I plan to blog about our fun little vacation trip to NYC this past week….with TWO toddlers. Thanks for stopping by each Friday!!  Have a great weekend, and try not to sweat too much.

July 4th In Rotan

Every year my hometown has a huge July 4th celebration complete with an all day softball tournament and a fireworks show at the end of the night. We’ve only missed one or two years since we’ve been married and it’s something we look forward to every year.

We spent the majority of the day going in between the softball fields and my parents house on the razor with cousins & friends!IMG_0893

Then, it was time to clean up and welcome our guests for our annual BBQ. My parents live in the perfect spot to watch the fireworks, so every year friends come over to eat dinner and stay for the firework show.

That vision you have of getting the perfect shot of all the cousins in their matching clothes – not happening when there’s fun to be had on a Pink Ranger waving an American flag!

Both boys have monogrammed shirts and seersucker shorts while the girls are wearing coordinating outfits – thanks to DeeDee!

We started out watching the fireworks on the grass, but they seemed to last extra long this year, so unfortunately neither kid made it to the grand finale. Maybe next year!

We had the absolute best July 4th as our new little family of four.

Miss Mila Poppy’s Nursery

When I found out one of my best friends was pregnant with a girl, I knew we had to make it the best nursery yet! Jenny and I went to Tech together, were sorority sisters, moved to Dallas together after graduating, were in each others weddings and pregnant with our daughters at the same time.

Jenny knew she wanted to keep it clean, crisp and white, but with a few girly touches. She already had a mirrored chest she wanted to use in the room so we added golds and pinks for a soft metallic nursery. We ordered this crib which is just the right size for the room along with the softest bedding ever!

She has a great window seat in the room where we added these simple white roman shades.

Isn’t MVP such a great monogram?

The pink unicorn is from Etsy and we knew we had to work it into the space somehow.

This view! How awesome are those gold stripes? They make the room!

Thank you Jenny and Josh for letting me have a part in Miss MP’s room. Hopefully Miss MP and AB will grow up to be just as good of friends as their momma’s.
