Five on Friday – Friday Favorites

Because this week has really been a blur, we’ve had zero favorite things and zero happenings other than July 4th. When Monday is a holiday, you take off Tuesday to travel back home, you are really thrown off Wednesday morning, and you for sure don’t think Friday is Friday. Hallelujah to getting back to normal next week.

SOOOO – Since I’ve been summering it up lately, and I’m lacking in the design department, I’m sharing a few of my favorite spaces I’ve created over the past couple of years.
Linking up as always for FIVE ON FRIDAY and FRIDAY FAVORITES

ONE:
What started it all……not that it was the first nursery for me to work on, but it was the first to get a few likes on FB, and probably the nursery that finally made me create a website.  Sweet Mila’s nursery is one for the books. Gold and white stripes with touches of pink make this one of my favorite girl nurseries. You would never know that it’s definitely the smallest space I’ve transformed.

TWO:
Paige’s entire house is my favorite. Slowly but surely, we will complete her entire home, but until then, you can just stare at Mr. Griffin’s man room. Because he lives in a house with four other females, a major dude room was on the agenda!

THREE:
Speaking of Paige’s house, I love, love her family room. A good bookshelf is always needed! Thank goodness Paige knows a little something about outfit styling when it comes to family photos. This giant canvas is the perfect addition and wasn’t planned at all.

FOUR:
My absolute favorite, favorite was my first house ever. The kitchen, laundry room and the master bathroom were amazing if I do say so myself. Someone please tell me why we moved??

FIVE:
Not design related at all, but if you didn’t read my July 4th round up – check it out here. We love Rotan time!

Happy weekend friends! Here’s to a weekend of playing catch up before we go again.

E-Design Neutral Nursery

If you remember, way back, almost a year now, I did an E-Design for my sister in law that was pregnant with her THIRD boy. Yes, her third, so this needed to be a sweet baby boy nursery using both his big brothers’ furniture. I really just put something together that was partly my brother, yet simple and chic enough for my SIL.

Remember this design board? Well, she ran with it, and I can take NO credit for pulling it all together. She did it all herself, and now it’s the perfect little space for a future chic hunter! (Don’t tell my brother we named it that!)

She kept all her existing furniture from the older two boys, and then added the fun. The antler sconce puts off the right amount of light when feeding that sweet boy at night.

Can we talk about this wallpaper? It’s the perfect, subtle addition of animal print without being too much….and did I mention, my dad installed it? #IwishHeLivedInDallas

Roman shades in a nursery are a great choice since most already come with blackout liner. They keep the room a little more masculine without the fluff of curtains. (If I’ve used curtains in your boy’s nursery, I promise they look good!)

I really do enjoy doing E-Design and then watching it come to life through pictures. When I can’t be in the same town as the client, it’s the next best thing!  This nursery will be able to grow with sweet Knox as he gets older.

Project Nursery May Room Finalists

Woohoo – I’m so excited y’all. Project Nursery has named their May Room Finalists, and sweet Griffin’s has been chosen. What that means – I shared this nursery a couple of weeks ago on the Project Nursery online gallery which is a place where anyone can upload pictures of a nursery for others to get inspiration. Each month, they choose five projects they like the most, and then let the readers vote on which they like best. Out of all the projects, Griffin’s black and white nursery made the top five. Now, here’s where you come in. For the next week, you can vote once a day on your favorite, which I’m sure will be Griffin’s. Click HERE and vote for the Black and White nursery to help push us to the top.
Here’s a look back in case you haven’t seen the room yet.

Black and White Nursery

Baby Griffin quite possibly has the best room in this entire home. If you’ve been reading this blog for any time, you know that for the last year I’ve been slowly chipping away at each room of Paige’s new house.

Baby Griffin was born back in March (I think) #badfriend, and we finished it up a week or two after he made his appearance.

If you know Paige at all, you know that she could care less about sweet and traditional. When I first asked her what she was thinking, she said fun and not your typical boy nursery.  Check, check, check! Not many people would be ok with doing a black and white room for a newborn, but it is actually super cheery and very bright.

We started off with this fab wallpaper. I’ve been in love with this print for quite some time in the soft white and blue color. Leave it to Paige to like the black! The entire room is black and white with added accents of green to make the birds pop. Simple accessories with the bold pattern wallpaper balance out the room. The crib sits perfectly on a white wall with a fun dot mobile hanging above.
Buffalo check is still going strong, and you better bet I’m gonna use it until I can’t stand it anymore. This pillow made out of the oversized black and white version is to die for sitting on the white rocker.
The bathroom is right off the nursery and was already finished out in black and white. We added a few monogrammed towels, gold accessories, and called it a day. You don’t have to over do – keep things simple!

I’m so glad Paige is bold and not afraid to try anything. She trusts everything I suggest and is always up for a challenge. Thank you, Paige, for letting me be a part of yet another room in your new house. Five rooms down, 2.5 more to go!

One Room Challenge – Week 4

It’s now week 4, and that kinda scares me a little. Mainly because we only have two weeks left in the One Room Challenge, and also because JM could possibly have a baby by then. I’m thinking very doubtful since that would work out too perfectly for this challenge.

Since we aren’t starting from scratch with this room, I feel like the updates are a little boring. However, we have more furniture!  The chair came in this week, and we decided on a rug. The chair is a linen color, and the rug compliments it and the crib skirt nicely.
See what you think!

TO DO:
~Remove TV
~Hang curtain rod/drapes
~Purchase floor lamp
~Have a baby!

So Nick, he’s the baby daddy– if you’re reading this, I know you have nothing else on your plate right now, but I need a TV removed and a curtain rod hung, please, sir!

Remember what we’re striving for!

One Room Challenge – Spring Edition

Y’all – I am SO excited. Today begins the fun six week “One Room Challenge” put on by Calling It Home. Twice a year, she hosts a link up party to transform a room from start to finish in just six weeks. If you’ll remember, I participated last fall with Paige’s Living Room, and I’m participating this time with Jen’s nursery. Until MDub is ready to take on another project in our own house, lucky me, I always have friends willing to let me play in theirs!!  Jeni has to have a nursery, so why not make it happen in 6 weeks!

1457657935341

Let’s take a look at the BEFORE pics of this room. Not bad, right? Lets just say, I had some part in it several years ago. If it weren’t for a new baby on the way, it wouldn’t be getting a facelift. I’m still in love with the wall of wallpaper, so it’s staying, but everything else is obviously going.
I promise, I am NOT an accent wall person at all. But for some reason, every room I’ve done in the last year seems to have some type of wallpaper or painting on one wall. I must get that in check!

The bed is being reused in big sister’s room, and she’s selling the RH nightstands – any takers? The baby pictures and TV will have to find a new home as we replace with changing table and rocker. Then there’s a giant wall of shutters and one whole wall of doors. I see an excited big brother and sister peeking in. IMG_1413

To keep us all on pins and needles, we won’t know the gender of this baby until he/she arrives. Don’t worry – I have a boy and girl option in the works.  We will probably be putting the finishing touches on at midnight before the final day of the challenge. Nothing like keeping us on our toes.

The countdown is on…….  For the baby’s sake, we need he/she to stay in longer than six weeks, but the designer in me wants this baby to come at 5 weeks and 3 days, so I can finish this room. #selfishfriend

Check out all the other rooms that are being transformed during this challenge, and check back each week to follow the progress.

Miss Mila Poppy’s Nursery

When I found out one of my best friends was pregnant with a girl, I knew we had to make it the best nursery yet! Jenny and I went to Tech together, were sorority sisters, moved to Dallas together after graduating, were in each others weddings and pregnant with our daughters at the same time.

Jenny knew she wanted to keep it clean, crisp and white, but with a few girly touches. She already had a mirrored chest she wanted to use in the room so we added golds and pinks for a soft metallic nursery. We ordered this crib which is just the right size for the room along with the softest bedding ever!

She has a great window seat in the room where we added these simple white roman shades.

Isn’t MVP such a great monogram?

The pink unicorn is from Etsy and we knew we had to work it into the space somehow.

This view! How awesome are those gold stripes? They make the room!

Thank you Jenny and Josh for letting me have a part in Miss MP’s room. Hopefully Miss MP and AB will grow up to be just as good of friends as their momma’s.
